Mareeba Combined Agents penned a total of 265 head for this week’s prime and store cattle sale. Numbers lifted by 95 head. The 97 steers sold averaged 207c/kg with the best pen of local trade steers reaching 267.2c, and most selling between 223c – 242c. The 33 cows averaged 144c to a top of 190c, with most local trade cows selling between 160c – 190c. The 16 heifers averaged 197c selling to a top of 238c, while 65 bulls averaged 209c with one pen of young grey Brahman males hitting 252c. A few heavy bulls made to a top of 190c. Good quality store steers topped at 268c, while 18 yearling heifers struggled to find good value topping at 149c to average 99.4c.
