Grain-fed export and trade cattle were strong on the current market at Silverdale on Friday.

Agents Hayes & Co had a good size yarding of 600 cattle at Silverdale on Friday. Grain-fed export and trade cattle were strong on the current market. Heavy feeder cattle were also firm in the tough circumstances while re-stocker cattle were easier due to dry weather conditions.

Grand champion exhibit of the show: was won by Glenvillan Pastoral (The Crawford family) with a Speckle Park steer which was sold for 308c/kg to JBS Australia and weighed 655kg to return $2017. Sponsored by: Blue Ribbon Motors, Bremer Stockfeeds, Elanco Animal Health, Litfin Contracting, Warrego Transport and Hayes & Co.

Junior champion steer (The Allan Crawford Memorial): which was the same steer that took out the grand champion exhibit of the show –  Glenvillan Pastoral (The Crawford family) with a Speckle Park steer which sold for 308c to return $2017. Sponsored by: Foote’s Boonah Pharmacy, Riverina Aust P/L, Litfin Contracting and Hayes & Co.

Reserve champion exhibit of the show: was won by TP & JE Surawski with a Black Limousin heifer which was sold for 294c to Marcelford Meats and weighed 540kg to return $1588. Sponsored by: JBS Aust P/L, Black Thor Angus – Mt Alford, Alford Creek Shorthorns (Wieland family). Litfin Contracting, Warrego Transport and Hayes & Co.

Junior champion heifer: which was the same heifer that took out the reserve champion exhibit of the show: TP & JE Surawski with a Black Limousin heifer which was sold for 294c to return $1588. Sponsored by: HLE Smith Transport, Landmark Wholesale Merchandise, Litfin Contracting, Hayes & Co.

Senior champion steer: was won by Glenvillan Pastoral (The Crawford family) with a Speckle Park steer which was sold for 312c to JBS Australia and weighed 650kg to return $2028. Sponsored by: Cooper Reeves Accountant, Virbac Animal Health, Litfin Contracting.

Champion pen of females (grain-fed): was won by TP & JE Surawski with a pen of Limousin heifers which was sold for 300c to Highchester Meats and weighed 478kg to return $1435 each. Sponsored by: Strasburg Bros Transport & Riverina Aust, Litfin Contracting & Hayes & Co.

Junior champion pen of steers (grain-fed): was won by GR & SJ Issell with a pen of Red Angus cross steer which were sold for 288c to Stanbroke Beef and weighed 578kg to returned $1666 each. Sponsored by: Scenic Rim Accounting and Kalbar & Dist Community Bank, Litfin Contracting.

Senior champion pen of pasture ox and the Jack Hayes Memorial Trophy: was won by DJ & LM Gelhaar with a pen of Charbray steers which were sold for 276c to Teys Bros at Beenleigh and weighed 681kg to return $1879 each. Sponsored by: Washpool No 2, Clark Equipment/Dakenag, Litfin Contracting and Hayes & Co.

Champion pen of feed-on cattle (Brian Nolan Memorial Trophy): was won by GJ & KL Roberts with a pen of Charbray steers which were sold for 269c to Morgan’s Pastoral Co and weighed an average of 462kg to return $1241 each. Sponsored by: Sandra Nolan and family, NAB Brisbane – Agribusiness, Anipro, Litfin Contracting.
