Two high profile Queensland companies with years of experience in the remote monitoring and water medication business, Harrington Systems Electronics and Direct Injection Technologies, have joined together.
According to Richmond's Will Harrington, who started HSE from his Olga Downs home in 2005, the merged agtech business will see it scale up to become a "truly global Australian livestock technology and animal health business".
"It's a pretty exciting opportunity," Will said. "It'll mean we have the capacity to support our customers better. We've had a little team and it gets a bit tough."
DIT Technologies Ltd will acquire 100 per cent of Harrington Systems Electronics Pty Ltd, including key people and customers, and the merged business will operate under the Direct Injection Technologies brand.
HSE, through its uSee remote monitoring technology, has worked with producers in all states and territories of Australia as well as overseas clients, in water and stock management, while DIT Technologies has a long history of providing water medication products that use patented proportional dosing technology for livestock.
Last November it opened a warehouse in Toowoomba and launched a crowdfunding initiative.
Will said HSE had been working with DIT Technologies Ltd for over two years to help develop their water medication systems and integrate them into the uSee remote monitoring platform to allow users to see all their camera, tank and water data in one spot.
He is to take on the position of chief technical officer and said he had already been working on the next generation of the product to make it simpler and more reliable.
Also in the works is a portable set that could be hooked up in cattle yards.
"Water medication will get bigger - it's about being able to supplement cattle without carting a whole lot of lick around," he said.
"We just wanted to improve and see that our customers were looked after.
"We'd been working together for a while and DIT was in the process of raising capital and said, how about it."
DIT plans over the next 12 months to expand operations to multiple locations across Australia and in the longer term, to roll out a global expansion.
DIT Technologies founder and CEO Mark Peart said they expected to solve connectivity problems in real time and offer animal tracking and virtual fencing solutions as well.
