A total yarding of 879 head of cattle were penned at Roma’s prime sale on Thursday. Steers over 550kg sold to 273c and averaged 266c, while steers 400- 550kg sold to 264c, averaging 257c. Bindango Pty Ltd, Bindango, Roma sold Santa cross steers to 273c, reaching a top of $1754 to average $1673.
Heifers over 450kg made to 251c and averaged 210c, heifers in the 350-450kg sold to 213c, averaging 188c. CN and SH Nason, Banoona, Roma sold Composite heifers to 237c, reaching a top of $1171 to average $1171. Foyleview Pastoral Co sold Simbrah heifers to 228c, reaching a top of $1141 to average $1141. The Simbrah cows sold to 204c, reaching a top of $1054 to average $1039.
Cows over 500kg peaked at 228c and averaged 194c, while cows in the 400- 500kg class topped at 210c and averaged 148c. Dangarfield Cattle Co, Alice, Taroom sold Santa cows to 214c, reaching a top of $1363 to average $1249. RL and JD Davidson, Hillandale, Wandoan sold Santa cows to 214c, reaching a top of $1310 to average $1267. EJ and CF Rolfe, Marie Downs, Roma sold Santa cross cows to 211c, reaching a top of $1274 to average $1006.
LT and ML Price, Mt Hope, Wallumbilla sold Droughtmaster cross cows to 210c, reaching a top of $1,150 to average $1041. Colin and Audrey Bell, Alcurah Creek, Roma sold Brahman cross cows to 209c, reaching a top of $1181 to average $1105. BB and PD Mason, Teeswater, Mitchell sold Brahman cross cows to 208c, reaching a top of $1197 to average $1068. G Webb, Panavista, Roma sold Brahman cross cows to 206c, reaching a top of $1190 to average $1074.
Bulls over 600kg earned to 245c and averaged 196c.
HIGHLIGHT: Dangarfield Cattle Co, Alice, Taroom sold six Santa cows with all proceeds going to BlazeAid, QCEA and Sisters of the North to assist with the North Queensland Flood Recovery. The cows sold to 228c, reaching a top of $1517.
