Chooks and crawchies – the Tambo Stock Show committee’s primary production roots shone through at its annual meet and greet on the weekend.
Both animals featured at the annual Beer and Bubbles membership drive held at the Carrangarra Hotel on Saturday night.
All attention was concentrated on a chicken’s rear end in order to reveal the winner of plop lotto, while all bets were off when crawchies (yabbies) from two different water sources got thrown together to race.
The traditionally burnished blue racers were eclipsed by their paler muddy brown cousins that had to claw their way to the finish line twice when a visiting scribe looked like heading west with all the racing proceeds.
It was a quieter night than usual for the committee but there will be no stopping their usual enthusiastic planning.
Tambo is the first on the central west’s show circuit, set for April 27.
