There was a reduced yarding at Gracemere on Friday, with 1946 head, comprising 771 steers, 674 heifers, 372 cows, 45 bulls and 84 cow and calf lots. Meatworks grade cattle saw a small reduction in pricing, however feedlot cattle remained firm for steers and heifers. Quality weaner cattle continued to sell well to restockers. Overall the market held firm to dearer across all descriptions.
Slaughter steers sold to 273c, average 266c, steers 400-500kg made 270c, average 258c, steers 300-400kg reached 286c, average 259c, steers 200-300kg made 312c, average 268c and steers under 200kg sold to 304c, average 264c.
Slaughter cows sold to 232c, average 214c, cows 400-450kg made 234c, average 201c, and cows 320-400kg reached 219c, average 172c.
Heavy heifers sold to 250c, average 233c, heifers 300-400kg made 266c, average 239c, heifers 200-300kg reached 280c, average 216c, and heifers under 200kg made 258c, average 200c.
Cows and calves sold to $1300/unit, average $910/unit.
Bulls over 600kg made 280c, average 259c, bulls 450-600kg reached 280c, average 254c and bulls under 450kg sold to 338c, average 255c.
HIGHLIGHTS:
A Hobson, Banana, sold a line of prime Brahman cows for 221c, weighing 596kg to return $1319/hd. They also sold quality lines of Brahman cross weaner Mickeys topping at 338c to return $782. The heifers topped at 280c.
IE & JE Lewis, Bajool, sold a run of crossbred cows, topping at 223c, weighing 610kg to return $1360. Of the same consignment, steers were also sold for 266c, weighing 461kg to return $1227/hd.
Wales Grazing, Biloela , sold Brahman steers to top at 264c, weighing 357kg to return $950/hd.
Darnell Grazing Co, Ridgelands, sold Charbray weaner steers to 312c, weighing 246kg to return $768/hd.
J & L Bishop, Rolleston, sold crossbred feeders heifers to top at 260.2c, weighing 375kg to return $977/hd.
G & M Austin, Cawarral, sold EU Droughtmaster weaner heifers for 258c, weighing 180kg to return $464/hd.
