POLICE have charged 17 people with 56 drug and weapons offences in the Tara and Millmerran areas.
Police from State Crime Command’s Major and Organised Crime Squad (Rural) executed 16 search warrants on predominantly rural properties on February 5-7.
During the search, officers located buried weapons and identified firearms as being modified and rebuilt. They also located a quantity of cannabis and methylamphetamine valued at more than $262,000. The cannabis seizure included 25 plants ranging from 2m to 4m in height.
There were 12 illegal firearms including a MG08 military .303 machine gun (Category R), one Ruger Mini-14 .223 with two extended magazines (category D), a .303 full wood military rifle, a single barrel 12 gauge shotgun, a black powder musket, a homemade black powder pistol, two homemade silencers (category R), two homemade black powder cannons, a .22 bolt action rifles and a homemade firearm.
Officers from Toowoomba, Kingaroy and Roma MOCS (Rural) were assisted by the Firearms and Cannabis Team, Dalby CIB and the dog squad.
