A smaller offering of 971 cattle at Gympie on Thursday saw the market remain similar to our last sale with the exception of quality weaner steers which were dearer. Cattle were drawn from Gin Gin, Maryborough, Armara, Bauple, Woolooga, Kilkivan, Tansey, Goomeri, Maleny, Conondale, Kenilworth and all local areas.
Brangus steers from JA & LH Walker, Bergins Pocket sold for 275c to return $1277. Droughtmaster steers from Laurie Ellis made 270c ($1106). Quality Charbray steers from Maree Duncombe made 290c ($963). Brahman cross steers from Eddie McBean, Kilkivan sold for 275c to return $911 and $758. Droughtmaster steers from the Blankensee family, Kandanga made 313c ($862). Brangus steers from Ron Helmore, Kilkivan made 293c ($1031).
Brangus steers from Richard Reynolds, Gin Gin made 303c ($856) and 297c ($678). Droughtmaster steers from BH & SO Portas, Woolooga made 327c ($811) and 311c ($649). Droughtmaster steers from Les Howard, Aramara made 297c ($734). Charbray steers from D &J Caldwell, Cooroy made 329c ($770). Quality weaner steers sold from 275c to 329c.
Feeder heifers were limited in supply and sold to a top of 250c generally selling from 230c to 245c. Droughtmaster heifers from B & M Douglas, Goomborian made 261c ($731). Droughtmaster heifers from BH & SO Portas, Woolooga made 270c ($672) and 249c ($510). Generally quality weaner heifers sold from 210c to 242c.
Cows and calves topped at $1380 generally selling from $980 to $1300.
