Cattle numbers decreased by 1422 to total 1069 head listed. Clearance remained strong and NSW buyers were again active, purchasing 139 head. Highlights include 52 Angus/composite backgrounder heifers from The Summit travelling to Walcha, NSW. One line of weaned steers sold for 211c. These Brangus cross steers are 133kg, 5 – 8 months of age and will travel from Jericho to Barcaldine.
Yearling steers weighing under 350kg sold from 207c to 269c and averaged 243c. The top price was achieved by a line of 74 backgrounder composite steers from Roma. These steers are 302kg, 14 – 17 months of age and will travel to Moonie.
Two lines of weaned heifers sold up to 212c. The top priced line was 97 Senepol/Bonsmara cross heifers from Springsure. These heifers are 268kg, 12 – 14 months and will travel to Banana. Yearling heifers weighing under 300kg sold from 165c to 221c and averaged 190c. The top price was achieved by a line of 106 NSM Simbrah cross future breeder heifers from Tara. These future breeders are 264kg, 10 – 15 months and will travel to Moura.
Two lines of cows and calves sold this week. Highlights include 25 Angus cows and calves from Allora, returned $1520. The cows are 507kg, 5 years old and the calves at foot are sired by Benarro Angus bulls, 3 – 4 months of age and averaged 205kg.
Highlights for PTIC cows include a line of 30 Brahman PTIC cows from Barcaldine, selling for $1050. These cows are 526kg, mixed age and are joined to Pathfinder and Raff Angus bulls.
Sheep numbers increased by 7753 head to total 14,828 head listed. Clearance remained low at 38 per cent. NSW buyers again made their presence felt purchasing 2419 head. Highlights include a line of 387 Merino ewes from Dirranbandi travelling nearly 700km to Grenfell, NSW for $65.50. These ewes are 44kg, 6.5 years old and have a 1.5” skin.
Merino ewes sold from $65 to $100 and averaged $80. The top price was achieved by a line of 680 NSM Merino ewes from Tambo. These ewes are 37kg, 22 – 23 months of age, have a 1.5” skin and will travel to Roma.
410 station mated White Dorper cross ewes from Mitchell sold for $110. These ewes are 46kg, mixed ages, Artula blood and will stay locally.
Flock ram highlights included a line of 4 Dunblane Poll Merino and another line of 4 Dunblane Merino rams from Barcaldine, returning $500 each. These rams are April 17’ drop, 54kgs and both lots will travel to Longreach.
