Araluen district macadamia grower, Brice Kaddatz, has received an Order of Australia medal for service to the horticulture industry.
Mr Kaddatz has been involved in agriculture for more than 50 years as a cane farmer, macadamia grower and cattle producer and said he is very humbled by the honour.
“I really dedicate this to Australian farming as essentially in my view that is where I believe it belongs,” Mr Kaddatz said.
Mr Kaddatz has been a member of the Australian Macadamia Society since 2010, and held various positions.
He is currently the productivity support officer, a position he had held since 2016.
A previous board member Mr Kaddatz was honorary company company secretary and treasurer, from 2011 to 2016.
As well Mr Kaddatz has been a member of Macadamia Conservation Trust since 2010, and chairman from 2012 to 2018.
He served as field/grower liaison officer, Suncoast Gold macadamias from 2002 to 2015.
Mr Kaddatz is a passionate cattleman and has been a member of the Australian Gelbvieh Association, since 1990, President, since 2017.
He has worked tirelessly for the Endeavour Foundation and was appointed a life member, 1983. He served at a board member Mackay Branch for 10 years between 1982 and 1992.
A previous Endeavour Foundation board chairman from 1987 to 1992 his other positions held with the Endeavour Foundation includes being the manager, Cooloola-South Burnett Branch, from 1994 to 2000, and the manger of Endeavour Farms during 1999-2000.
He previously has been recognised and awarded the Norman R Greber OAM Memorial Award, 2015, and was Citizen of the Year, Pioneer Valley Lions (Mackay) circa 1980.
