The welcome rain earlier in the week resulted in a smaller than normal yarding at Gracemere on January 11 for the first sale for 2019. CQLX combined agents presented 964 head, comprised of 559 steers, 364 heifers, 21 cows, five bulls and 15 cow and calf lots. Larger quality consignments from Collinsville dominated the yarding, with the market holding firm from last year’s rates.
Slaughter steers sold to 279.2c, average 261c, steers 400-500kg made 270.2c, average 265.4c, steers 300-400kg reached 284.2c, average 270.9c, steers 200-300kg made 282.2c, average 256.1c and steers under 200kg sold to 272.2c, average 227.4c.
Slaughter cows sold to 235.2c, average 223.8c, cows 320-400kg reached 180c, average 160.3c, and cows under 320kg made 100c, average 100c.
Heavy heifers sold to 260.2c, average 257.5c, heifers 300-400kg made 266.2c, average 257.9c, heifers 200-300kg reached 263.2c, average 235c, and heifers under 200kg made 260.2c, average 215.7c.
Cows and calves sold to $1025/unit, average $866/unit.
Bulls over 600kg made 236.2c, average 235.2c, bulls 450-600kg reached 240c, average 240c and bulls under 450kg sold to 246.2c, average 245.2c.
