The supply of stock reduced by 1876 head to 5143 at Dalby on Wednesday and included in the lineup were 1153 head from far western Queensland, plus 187 head from South Australia and 200 from New South Wales, with the balance from the usual local areas.
A larger panel of buyers was present and all were operating. Medium weight yearling steers to feed averaged 9c/kg dearer. A better quality lineup of heavy weight yearling steers to feed lifted average prices by 19c/kg, however some of the improvements were due to the better quality. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed improved by 20c/kg and cows generally sold close to the previous week’s level.
C2 yearling steers to feed, weighing 330-400kg, sold from 286.2c to 326.2c, averaging 301c/kg. The same weight C2 yearling heifers made from 250.2c to 298.2c, averaging 276.5c/kg.
C2 grown steers, weighing 400-500kg, made from 271.2c to 290.2c to average 283.2c, increasing 11c/kg on the previous week.
Grown D2 heifers sold from 150c to 180.2c, averaging 177.2c/kg to record no change from the last sale. Manufacturing steers in D2 condition received 232.2c/kg. D1 cows sold 11c cheaper to make from 151.2 to 175.2c, averaging 164c/kg. C2 bulls to feed made from 238.2c to 285.2c, averaging 266.4c to post an 11c/kg increase.
