BUREAU of Meteorology computer modeling is showing some tantilising rainfall starting on Friday, developing into some significant falls over the following three days.
With ex-tropical cyclone Owen already dumping some significant 100mm-plus falls on the north tropical coast, BOM says there is a high to very high chance of showers and thunderstorms over the tropics with a high chance of showers about the central coast.
However, there is some uncertainty with the movement of the ex-tropical cyclone. BOM forecasters say if it remains over the warm waters of the Gulf of Carpentaria, there is a low chance of cyclone development on tomorrow, increasing to a moderate chance on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, a slow moving high pressure system over the Tasman Sea will maintain a ridge through central and south eastern areas over the next few days.
BOM says moisture is likely to increase through much of the state from mid-week, likely combining with a significant upper trough to lead to showers and storms over much of the state.
The fire danger remains very high in the north west of the state, and in the Darling Downs and Granite Belt district.
