The 44th annual Dalby Australian Stock Horse sale, the largest of its kind in the nation, was supported with bidders registered from as far afield as New York, Victoria, the Northern Territory, Western Australia, NSW and across Queensland competing for 228 horses offered at the Dalby Showgrounds last weekend.
In all, 179 horses sold, resulting in a 78 per cent clearance, to average $9480. In the breakdown, 103 mares sold to average $11,243; 73 geldings averaged $7116; and three stallions averaged $6500.
The sale topped at $42,000 for the seven-year-old black mare, Narrego Miss Spinductor, offered by Belinda and David Barnes, Quirindi, NSW.
Narrego Miss Spinductor is sired by Conductor and out of Sunland Opal, and is a previous supreme champion winner in Stock Horse classes. She was bought by Robert and Coralie Daly, Hillcrest, Roma, and will be part of their campdrafting team.

Next best price of $30,000 was achieved on five occasions for quality mares. First to sell was the nine-year-old bay mare, Booerie Creek Arietta, offered by Huon Smith, Boonara Creek, Tansey, with Shamil Livestock, Urunga, near Coffs Harbour, NSW placing the winning bid of $30,000. By Hazelwood Conman from Star Debutante, this mare is riddled with heritage Australian Stock Horse bloodlines.
Shamil Livestock were new buyers at last year’s sale where they certainly made their presence felt throughout the sale, buying 14 mares, one gelding and one stallion, spending in excess of $300,000. This year they limited their buying to four mares including the $28,000 Yarrawa Dreamer by Kneipps Conray, offered by Bill and Sue Waldron, Meandarra.
Other $30,000 price tag sellers included the Ellrott family, Morinish, who sold Bighouse Call Girl, a four-year-old mare by Ferns Hill Bennett, out of Token Escort, to Atkins Cattle Co, Spion Kop, Taroom.
Kristin and Jay Pearce, Wandoan, sold Daleys Avario for $30,000 to Lakeview Stud, Gingin, Western Australia. Daleys Avario is by Daleys Play Rio from Daleys Rave and comes from the same mare successfully campaigned by campdrafters, Ben and Jaye Hall of Muttaburra.
Michael and Patty Wright, Canungra, sold the nine-year-old black mare Kyeema Luv A Bull, by Acres Destiny from Vet School Tina. She was secured for the same money by TTM Cattle Company, Longreach.
Shaldon Whisper, again by Acres Destiny from the mare Climax, and offered by Tim Duggan, Alton Downs, was the final $30,000 seller and was bought by Lois Cameron, Clunno, Augathella.
Selling for $28,500 was Doongara Power King offered by Glasshouse Dountry Farms, Dalby and sold over the telephone to Karl Nastasi, Burra, NSW.
