PRODUCER tours proved a popular part of the big industry event Red Meat 2018, organised by Meat and Livestock Australia and held in Canberra this year.
Delegates were given a taste of how producers are harnessing genetics, objective measurement and using pasture management tools to drive productivity and eating quality.
Ravenswood Station, part of the Cavan Station Group and home of the Bogo Merino Stud and Alloura Angus Stud, both at Yass, were on the agenda.
Alloura is a family-owned operation breeding stud registered black Angus cattle under commercial conditions to meet domestic and export market demands.
The Wales family produce functional, structurally-sound cattle with high calving ease and superior carcase attributes.
Fairfax Media agriculture photographer Rachael Webb was on hand at the two properties to capture the fun.
More than 800 people turned out for Red Meat 2018, which featured extensive seminars, panel discussions, showcasing of new technology and even new beef and lamb dishes, and a business breakfast at which Agriculture Minister David Littleproud spoke.
