Families from some of the farthest corners of the country gathered in western Queensland on Wednesday night to watch their children graduate.
Longreach Pastoral College, one of the flagship campuses under the Queensland Agricultural Training Colleges umbrella, was holding its 50th annual graduation ceremony.
Jo Jago came all the way from Sheffield, Tasmania, to watch her daughter Gabi graduate.
"I just really felt like a change when I signed up for the college," Gabi said.
"I wanted to see something new and I thought that coming to Longreach would be the best way to do it."
Former student Micha Bradnock graduated from Longreach Pastoral College last year and is now working with the Consolidated Pastoral Company on Isis Downs Station.
Growing up in Brisbane, she said studying at the college gave her a fantastic preparation for life on the farm.
"As soon as I finished last year I got a job working at Isis Downs," she said.
"It's quite amazing to see how far I've come compared to when I first arrived at the college."
Students participated in the Stockman's Challenge horse earlier in the day, before scrubbing up for dinner and the graduation ceremony later that night.
Joshua Chambers, from Mareeba, said after graduating he was taking up a job offer at Saxby Downs cattle station north of Richmond.
"It has been awesome to come out here," he said.
"I always wanted to work in agriculture, and this gave me a great opportunity."
