The Cooyar Campdraft Committee staged a very successful campdraft to raise much need funds for a much loved local family, last weekend.

According to Cooyar Campdraft Association committee president, Paul Barron, said the weekend was an outstanding success with $40,000 raised with the beneficiaries being Karl, Felicity and Kory Burton, RACQ Life Flight Rescue, and Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Karl and Felicity Burton are local well know competitors, and at the end of September found themselves in the most feared position any young family could.

A mustering accident for Felicity and their young son Kory left them in need of a RACQ Life Flight medivac mission.

Felicity had a broken collar bone and Kory airlifted to Lady Cilento hospital in Brisbane a with head injuries.  They are unsure of the recovery time for Kory but recent scans have come back positive and he is showing remarkable improvements every day.

The Burton family have been staying at Ronald McDonald house while Kory is in hospital and they are truly thankful for these services.

After hearing of their devastating accident the Cooyar Campdraft Committee along with Lauren and Andrew Winks, Nooroomba Feedlot, Maidenwell, pulled together to run this event.

“It was after discussions with the Burtons it was their suggestion that RACQ Life Flight Rescue and Ronald McDonald House Charities be part beneficiaries,” Paul said.

“With the services and support they provided to the Burton family, both of the these amazing organisations deserve all of the recognition and financial support we can give them.”

Mr Barron said it was great to see that 160 competitors from all over Queensland, some travelling from as far away as 2000km to support this great event.
