There were 334 head sold at Stariha Auctions Woodford cattle sale on Monday. Cows and feeders once again sold to strong rates. A large number of weaner heifers came to hand this week, selling for market value to dearer rates, while any quality weaner steers were in demand.
David and Elizabeth Spring, Harlin, sold a two-year-old Droughtmaster bull for $2400. Mark McLennan, Wamuran Basin, sold Santa and Charolais steers for $1590-$1700. Robert Patrick, Brendale, sold Droughtmaster cows for $1200-$1400. Joncol Park, Mount Kilcoy, sold Droughtmaster steers for $1400 and cows for $1200. Main Creek Pastoral, Manumbar, sold lines of Santa/Angus cross heifer calves for $720. Alec Parker, Delaneys Creek, sold a line of Red Angus milk tooth steers for $1095.
Ron Price, Stanmore, sold Bazadais weaner steers for $755. Dean Bauer, Moorina, sold Charbray cross calves, with steers making $650 and heifers $570. Mark Griffiths, Royston, sold Brangus steers for $690. Troy Hennessey, Mount Mee, sold Charolais heifers for $755. Ken Klein, Woodford, sold a line of 5-6 month old Droughtmaster steers for $700. Col and Trica Heathwood, King Scrub, sold Droughtmaster heifers for $685. Gald Pastoral, Harlin, sold a line of Ultra Black heifer calves for $595.
