A mail truck bound for western Queensland burst into flames on the Capricorn Highway outside of Rockhampton on Tuesday night.
No one was injured in the blaze, however all the freight on board the truck was destroyed.
The truck was travelling to Emerald from Rockhampton, with deliveries in Winton and Longreach.
A spokeswoman for Australia Post said the truck caught fire around 11pm near the town of Westwood, about 50 kilometres south west of Rockhampton.
“Most importantly, no one was injured in the incident,” she said.
“While our driver was able to unhook the trailers from the prime mover to prevent further damage, all mail on-board was destroyed.”
Customers expecting mail should call Australia Post’s customer centre on 13 13 18 quoting reference number 2160 4740, the spokeswoman said.
“We know this is frustrating for our customers and we’ll work with our business customers to identify and then contact anyone who may have lost items.
“The cause of the fire is being investigated.”
