WITH BUSHFIRE season fast approaching, Silvan Australia are urging farmers to prepare for a high-risk fire season.

Silvan Australia and Selecta, merchandise manager, Michael Frost said having water resources and equipment ready, as a first response or for clean up after a fire front has passed, is important, however, sometimes property managers were not as prepared as they should be.

“In previous high danger seasons we have seen property owners and managers leave it until a fire is virtually at their boundary before rushing to their local supplier, only to find that there are no equipment stocks left,” he said.

“Consequently, we advise that for a relatively modest investment the appropriate equipment can be held ready to assist in quelling the smallest fire outbreak, or for protection of homes, buildings and fences once a fire alert is raised.

“Our Silvan warehouses are well stocked at present with very attractive product and pricing offers on our extensive range of built up units or individual components for water transfer.”

Mr Frost said two Silvan Davey combination tank and engine pump sets with all the accessory equipment of fill and delivery hoses are recommended.

“These units are also great general-purpose aids as they can be employed for livestock jetting or washdown purposes, topping up stock water troughs, or general-purpose water transfer needs,” he said.

“Two of the choices are the Silvan Selecta SQF400 with a 400 litre tank that is coupled to a 6.5 horsepower Honda four stroke petrol engine with a direct coupled Davey impeller pump.

“With a 3.6 litre unleaded petrol supply this unit gives up to two hours of run time.

“Its operating performance is 80 psi maximum pressure or 425 litres per minute of open flow.”

Mr Frost said Silvan also offered individual pump, engine and Polytuff tank combinations of capacities between 400 and 2200 litres capacity, as well as bigger property options where the equipment is mounted on a steel chassis as a slip -on, slip off combination.

“Our ranges use all high-quality components and enable property owners or managers to select a fire fighting unit that best meets their needs,” he said.

“Silvan Selecta also supplies individual Polytuff tanks, hose reels, water delivery or quick fill solutions together with an extensive choice of nozzles and hose guns.

“These equipment choices are ideal for the build-up of individual systems or retrofitting o upgrading existing tank or supply sources.”
