More than 500 racing revellers converged on Dalby’s Bunya Park Racecourse for the fifth annual Dalby Rugby Races.
The event, which coincides with the Melbourne Cup Carnival’s Derby Day each year sees the event organisers continued to use the black and white theme for the day. This year saw a splash of greenery, not only in the decorations but also on the track, thanks to the recent rainfall.
The day was headlined with a five race program along with a male and female foot race, the Windsor Hotel fashions on the field, cocktail bar, food trucks and a DJ until late in the night.
Event organiser Chelsea Wyatt was overwhelmed with the support for the event.
“This has been the biggest one so far. We were at capacity and sold out of tickets on Friday evening which was so pleasing to have plenty of eager racegoers and so much interest in the day,” she said.
“This is what country racing is all about…racing, food, fun, friends and a few drinks. It’s fantastic to have two sporting clubs work together to bring our community a fabulous event like this and shows how important our not-for-profit clubs are to our town.”
