There were 681 head yarded at Harristown Saleyards on Monday. Bulls were dearer, and no bullocks or heavy feeder steers were yarded. Cows improved in price while store cattle were cheaper, particularly plainer types.
Top priced bulls and cows penned on account of JD & KL Wilkes, Pittsworth returned $2575 for the bulls and the cows returning $1893 reaching 254.2c.
A cull Friesian dairy cow, account of GR & JM Fitch, Haden sold to 222.2c to return $1610.
Best trade steers ex Warwick sold to 329.2c returning $1316 with trade steers account of Ian and Katrina Bebbington, Ramsay returning $1453.
Trade heifers topped at 320.2c to return $788. Feeder steers suitable for the trade, account of AM and RS Shepherd, average weight 310kg, sold for 310.2c to return $961. Lightweight Charolais steers, account of Tom Beesley, Mt Tyson sold to 300.2c to return $583.26.
Cows and calves sold to $1080. Elders clients topped the sale in every category for the day.
