A weather warning covering large parts of central west Queensland has been issued by the Bureau of Meteorology.
On Wednesday afternoon the bureau issued an alert for damaging winds and possible thunderstorms from Julia Creek across to Longreach and Barcaldine.
Other locations that could be affected included Richmond, Evesham Station, Muttaburra and Aramac, according to the bureau.
The bureau’s rain radar showed a scattering of rain about 80 kilometres north of Longreach around 4pm.
Duty forecaster Michael Knepp said in addition to possible storms in the central west, there could also be a smaller amount of rain in the far south west of the state, near Thargomindah and Birdsville.
