A high quality draft of 90 Classified S and herd bulls selected by seven leading Qld-based studs will provide stud and commercial producers with a wide variety of bloodlines to choose from at the upcoming Clermont Santa Gertrudis Bull Sale.
The sale, being held at the Clermont Saleyards on Tuesday, November 27 from 11am will feature drafts from the Adams family, Dangarfield, Taroom, the Hatton family, Diamond H, Wandoan, the Ferguson family, Glenn Oaks, Nobby, the Barlow family, Yarrabee, Dingo, the Dunlop family, Dunlop, Proston, David and Suzanne Bassingthwaighte, Waco, Mungallala, and Andrew and Fiona Bassingthwaighte, Yarrawonga, Wallumbilla.
Sale agent Bryton Virgo, Landmark Clermont, said local climatic conditions in the lead-up to the sale have been much the same as what producers in the majority of the state have been contending with in recent times.
“Some areas have had good rain and others have missed out. We can only hope for the seasonal conditions to change, and that buyers recognise the quality of the bulls that’ll be available at the sale for when it does,” Mr Virgo said.
He said a number of new vendors have entered drafts in the sale this year, “which will hopefully lead to an improvement on last year’s positive sale result”.
“We believe results should remain strong this year on the back of the top lineup on offer from a even more diverse selection of studs.”
At the 2017 sale 50 bulls sold to average $7740 for a clearance of 90 per cent and a top price of $20,000
The top priced bull was Yarrawonga M580, a 21-month-old sire weighing 845kg with an EMA of 128cm sq and a scrotal circumference of 40cm. M580 bull was purchased by Bill Speed, Brigadoon, Taroom over the phone. He was Mr Speed’s only purchase at the sale.
Mr Virgo said being situated in the center of the Central Highlands, Clermont provides a convenient location for producers around the state to sell and buy cattle.
“To further entice buyers from surrounding districts we’re offering free delivery of lots purchased to Charters Towers, Emerald and Alpha.”
The sale lots will be available for inspection from the afternoon of Sunday, November 25, and supplementary sheets will sent out on Monday, November 26.
Mr Virgo said sale catalogues have now been mailed out and to contact the Landmark Clermont or Emerald if you haven’t received a copy and they’ll send one out.
He said those who can’t attend the sale in person can contact the selling agents to bid on their behalf.
