With storms and more good rainfall across the south east, the market again showed a significant increase at Stariha Auctions Woodford cattle sale on Monday. Weaner steers and cows were in demand.
TS Carberry, Elaman Creek, sold Senepol steers, 7-8 months, for $880 and 4-5 month old calves for $535. John Chambers, Neurum, sold Santa calves 5-6 months, with steers making $670 and heifers $585. Nevil Green, Villeneuve, sold 7-8 month old Droughtmaster steers for $810 and heifers for $670.
David Porter, Mt Mee, sold Angus store calves, with steers making $480 and heifers $420. Trevor and Natasha Weaver, Kilcoy, sold a line of Droughtmaster heifers for $980. Peter Lavercombe, Mt Mee, sold a young Angus bull for $1200. Terry Pratten, Kilcoy, sold Simmental cross cows for $1310 and store cows for $1090. Gerber Farms, Clarendon, sold Friesian cows for $1270.
