FURPHY by name, but not by nature, a 950 litre water cart mounted on a galvanised trailer is being promoted by Aussie Pumps just in time for fire season.
Featuring Aussie “Fire Chief” pressure and flow is driven by a portable Honda pump powered by a 4.1 kilowatt petrol engine.
Aussie Pumps, manager, Steve Lawrence said nobody made a a trailer mounted fire fighting rig like Furphys.
“We thought our way through production of a heavy duty piece of kit that will last just like the original Gallipoli models we built for the First World War” he said.
Mr Lawrence said Furphys were pleased to be able to offer the Aussie Fire Chief as a standard feature.
“With a Furphy tank and the Aussie pump, farmers can protect their property from fire, take water to live stock, water established trees or even wash down earthmoving plat equipment” he said.
“The Fire Chief is mounted on the draw bar of the Furphy water cart.”
Mr Lawrence said the pump has a 7.5 inch diameter impeller that provides high flow at high pressure, capable of a maximum flow of 450 litres a minute.
“Furphys have cleverly set the pump up so it can draw water either from the tank or from an alternate source, creeks or streams, just by activating a valve on the suction port.”
Mr Lawrence said the cart comes with 16 inch heavy duty four-wheel-drive wheels, a heavy duty rubber torsion suspension and an axle load capacity of 1,590 kilograms.
“An integrated fire fighting platform, designed for putting out spot fires, is fitted to the rear end of the trailer,” he said.
