CQLX combined agents had a smaller yarding of 1178 head on Friday, 658 fewer than last week’s sale, consisting of 478 steers, 505 heifers, 103 cows, 30 cows and calves and 62 bulls and mickeys.
Cattle were drawn from Nebo, Marlborough, Springsure, Bowen and local areas. Quality and condition was very mixed with a big percentage of light conditioned cattle and young calves present. With a reduced yarding and scattered rain across CQ, the market improved for all descriptions with the better lines of weaner steers improving by up to 50c on last week’s rate.
Steers 400-500kg made 287.2c, average 272.1c, steers 300-400kg reached 286.2c, average 266.3c, steers 200-300kg made 286.2c, average 266.9c and steers under 200kg sold to 320.2c, average 288.9c.
Slaughter cows sold to 264.2c, average 227.3c, cows 400-450kg made 219.2c, average 196.5c, cows 320-400kg reached 225.2c, average 165.4c, and cows under 320kg made 150.2c, average 112.1c.
Heifers 300-400kg made 258.2c, average 245.9c, heifers 200-300kg reached 258.2c, average 229.7c, and heifers under 200kg made 264.2c, average 221.8c.
Cows and calves sold to $1325/unit.
Bulls over 600kg made 248.2c, average 245.4c, and bulls under 450kg sold to 282.2c, average 203c.
