TEYS Jindalee leading hand Jane Reid received the Excellence in Feedlot Education Medal at the Australian Lot Feeders’ Association Beef Ex 2018 conference last Tuesday.
Miss Reid, who is completing a Certificate III in Feedlot Operations, leads a team of nine staff at the southern NSW feedlot.
The 28-year-old has had in interest in the feedlot industry for many years, with her father contracting to the feedlot in maintenance.
She started in the Teys Jindalee stock team in January 2015, working her way up to the position of leading hand.
“I love working with the cattle and horses, and I love learning – that’s never-ending in lotfeeding.
“There’s never a dull moment and there are so many career opportunities in the industry.”
The other two finalists were Tegan Brown, Gundamain Feedlot, Eugowra, NSW, and Brooke Flanagan, Gunnee Feedlot, Delungra, NSW.
The Excellence in Feedlot Education Award was sponsored by Zoetis.
