Santa Gertrudis bulls sold to a top price of $26,000 with 21 clearing at auction to average $6905 at the 10th annual Rockingham stud on-property sale at Tara, Lake Cargelligo on Thursday, October 4.
The auction sold 19 Rockingham bulls to average $7105 and two Denngal bulls topped at $6000 to average $5000.
Sale-topper was the 26 month-old son of Rockingham Joker J100 (P) weighing 982 kilograms, Rockingham Moonshine, purchased by Ian Walker, Strathmore Santa Gertrudis stud, Ravensbourne Station, Blackall, Queensland.
Mr Walker said Moonshine was a beautifully covered and full of beef characteristics.
“He has a good temperament and will be used for stud duties within the 700 breeder stud herd,” Mr Walker said. “He has a lot of power and is not over prepared.”
Mr Walker also paid $9500 for the 27 month-old Rockingham Majestic (P), by Bullamakinka K32 (P) weighing 860kg.
Rockingham stud heifers were in demand with 21 selling to $1400 and averaging $1284.
The sale was conducted by Landmark Russell, Cobar, with John Settree, Landmark Dubbo, the auctioneer.
