When Lil Brandt accepted the overall high gun sash at the conclusion of the Tambo Clay Target Club’s annual two-day shoot, it was the first time a club member had managed to post that achievement at a home shoot.
Lil did it in style, shooting a grand total of 245 out of a possible 250 targets for the weekend and taking out second place in the AA grade 50 target double barrel event, and first placings in the AA grade pointscore championship and AA grade continental championship.
Just short of 100 shooters took part in the carnival, 16 of them from Springsure.
A quarter of those returned home with high gun sashes and trophies – AA grade to Bruce Powell, A grade to Dallas O’Keefe, ladies to Tori Powell, and junior to Lachlan Rouse.
Other high gun winners included Barcaldine’s Connor Williams (B grade), Gemfields Janine Harris (C grade), and Ilfracombe’s Peter McLellan (veterans).
Pioneer club member, Trevor Meaney, started the weekend with the overall sash in the 50 target double barrel event, while Bruce Powell collected overall sashes for the 30 target single barrel event and the 50 target double barrel continental.
Clermont’s Phil Rhyer won the James Gall Memorial for the 30 target pointscore championship.
On Saturday night, Austin O’Brien, another Springsure member, took out the QCTA central zone night mixed target championship.
Handicap results were Jamie Cameron 1st, Jayd Powell 2nd, Tori Powell 3rd, David Ritchings 4th, and Aaron Goodman 5th.
