Two people have been taken to the Rockhampton Base Hospital following a single vehicle rollover accident on the Bruce Highway at around 10.40 this morning.
The accident took place about 20km south of Rockhampton where it is understood the male driver of the sedan, aged in his mid-70s, suddenly experienced symptoms associated with a seizure.
The vehicle then rolled three times before becoming stationary on the side of the road.
The RACQ Capricorn Helicopter Rescue Service was tasked to attend the scene, where Queensland Fire and Rescue officers were working on extricating the occupants from the vehicle to receive medical attention.
The wife of the driver was treated by Queensland Ambulance paramedics before she was airlifted to the Rockhampton Base Hospital for suspected head injuries, broken ribs, broken leg, lacerations and suspected internal injuries.
She was airlifted in a stable condition.
The driver sustained multiple injuries and was transported to Rockhampton Base Hospital by road paramedics.
Traffic management authorities advised that the Bruce Highway was closed from the time of the accident at 10.37am until 2.03pm, when the highway was cleared.
