THE Hatton family's Diamond H Santa Gertrudis bull sale topped at $30,000 when 50 bulls were put to auction at their on-property sale at Diamond Downs, Wandoan on Monday.
A total of 34 bulls sold on the day to average $6558, while all eight females which were also put to auction sold to average $4812.
The top price bull was Diamond H Underdog (P), topping at $30,000, and was purchased by the Bassingthwaighte family, Yarrawonga Santa Gertrudis Stud, Wallumbilla, who are repeat buyers at the sale.
Diamond H Underdog is a 22 month old son of Wave Hill Jackal (P), and weighed in at 949 kg, with EMA of 146 sq cm, P8 and Rib scores of 12mm and 9mm respectively.
The Hatton’s said both stud and commercial buyers were in attendance, with a good representation of repeat buyers.
The included P&W Griffiths, Stuart Downs, Wandoan who secured four bulls to average $6250.
Gary Newton, Big Valley, Wandoan and B&S Webster, Geddes Vale, Wandoan both purchased five bulls for their commercial herds.
Glenellen Cattle Co, Glenellen, Chinchilla purchased three bulls to average $7666.
B&M Westman, Ponty Pool, Wandoan and Annabranch Holdings, Annabranch, Wandoan also both purchased three quality Diamond H bulls.
Santahat Stud Principal Brett Hatton, Old Rawbelle, Monto, purchased three exceptional stud sires for his family’s stud operation to average $10,333. They included Warenda Halifax (P) sons Diamond H Tommahawk (PS) and Diamond H Taipan (P). He also bought Glenview Granville son Diamond H Thunderstuck.
All eight of the stud females sold to average $4812.
The equal top price females were Diamond H Sassy (P) and Diamond H Unique (P) which sold for $6000 each.
Proceeds of Diamond H Unique were generously donated to RACQ LifeFlight. She was purchased by R&L Pastoral, Baryulgil, NSW, who also purchased lot 72 Diamond H Uma (P).
Diamond H Sassy (P) was purchased by KJ Malycha Contracting, Chrystal Brook, SA.
