The Central Highlands Angus, Brangus and Ultrablack bull sale held on Monday had a strong show of support from bidders all day long.
Registered bidders came from south east Queensland, North Burnett, central Queensland and as far north as Nebo and west of Hughenden.
A total of 62 bulls were offered by 12 vendors – Beejay, Bindaree, BH Bindaree, Bullakeana, Callandoon, Earlwood, Lunar, Pheasant Creek, Rockview, Stewart Park, Tannyfoil and Voewood.
The sale reached a 97 per cent clearance, a top price of $15,500, with a gross of $359,500 and an average of $5992.
Alex Dodson, Hourn & Bishop Qld said they were very pleased with the result of the sale considering seasonal conditions.
The Brangus bulls were popular with the bidders with a 97 per cent clearance, a top of $15,500 and an average of $5592.
Lot 23, Stewart Park 137/7, sold to Mosely Farming for $15,500. He was impressive on the books as well as in the flesh, with a scrotal circumference of 43cm, an EMA of 138, and tipping the scales at 900kg for 23 months of age.
The second top priced bull was Lot 69, Lunar M093, selling to Pheasant Creek Brangus. Lunar sold five Brangus bulls for the highest sale average of $7200.
The Ultrablack bulls had a 100pc clearance, with a gross of $118,500 and an average of $6583. Lot 48, Bullakeana Q060, topped the Ultrablack section at $11,500, selling to Tay Glen Pastoral Co.
He was 26 months, an impressive 1,020kg with an EMA of 132. Tay Glen Pastoral Co also purchased the second top priced Ultrablack Lot 51, Bullakeana Q035, for $11,000. Bullakeana had the highest sale average of $8916 for their Ultrablack bulls.
The Angus bulls had a 100pc clearance, with an average of $7125. Lot 35, Callandoon M5, topped the Angus section at $8000, sold to Carnarvon Pastoral, He was 22 months, 800kg with a scrotal circumference of 38cm.
Appleton family purchased the second top priced Angus, Lot 44, Callandoon M103 for $7500.
