An annual charity event that aims to raise funds for the Heart of Australia hopes a push to auction a pen of cattle for the cause will give their event a jump start.

The inaugural Heart Health Day was held in December 2016 in memory of Meandarra local, Graham Bridle, who died from an undiagnosed cardiac illness.

Since then, the event has continued to grow with a strong crowd turning out last year for a ‘long lunch’ in the garden of Scott and Ann-Maree Attwooll, Meandarra. Gallery from 2016 here.

The 2016 and 2017 Heart Health Days saw over $100,000 donated to the Heart of Australia which aims to provide cardiac care in rural and remote Queensland.

“This year the committee is really hoping to give the event a pulse by auctioning off donated cattle at the Roma Saleyards in the next few weeks,” committee member Kate Scott said.

“Every dollar raised from the sale of the cattle and on the day will go towards supporting the Heart of Australia. We’d love to hear from anyone who wants to donate cattle.”

The 2018 Heart Health Day will be held in the Attwooll’s garden on the banks of the Brigalow Creek on Friday October 5.

The day will follow a similar format to the inaugural day with a sit-down lunch, full bar, guest speaker, auction, raffles and of course the attendance of Dr Rolf Gomes and The Heart Bus. Tickets will once again be limited.

Tickets can be purchased by visiting https://www.trybooking.com/XWLN
