There were 863 head of cattle offered on AuctionsPlus this week, with a 93 per cent clearance.

Cattle numbers improved from last week’s small offering, to total 863 head. Clearance remained steady at 93 per cent, with interstate buyers less active this week.

Weaned steers were in short supply, with the sole lot selling for 251c or $625. Sylvan Farm Trust, Theodore offered the 93 Shorthorn weaned steers, aged 12-14 months, and weighing 248kg. Backgrounder steers weighing up to 310kg averaged 269c and sold to a top of 274c. SC Proud, Surat, offered 76 Hereford steers which returned the top price. Weighing 249kg, these steers are 10-11 months and are bred from Les Nixon bloodlines. They will travel nearly 800km to Bowman’s Creek, NSW. The vendor also offered 102 Hereford backgrounder heifers which returned 263c or $715. These heifers are 10-12 months and weigh 271kg. Walker & Co, Winton, offered 100 Santa Gertrudis steers which returned 260c or $805. These steers are 10-16 months and weigh 309kg.

Weaned heifers weighing up to 300kg averaged 220c and sold to a top of 233c. Ennismore Farming Co, Nobby, offered 17 Angus/Droughtmaster cross heifers which returned the top price. Weighing 280kg, these heifers are 10-12 months. BR & EJ Mulckey, Westmar, offered 104 Santa Gertrudis/Composite cross heifers which returned 229c or $530. These heifers are 9-11 months and weigh 231kg.

Mirradong Meats, Moonie, offered three lots of Angus cows and calves totalling 100 cows with 100 calves which returned $1300. The cows are 4-5 years old and averaged 417kg across the three lots. The cows are bred from TeMania bloodlines, with 1-2 month old Angus calves at foot, which average 65kg.

Sheep numbers jumped by 1249 head this week to total 4011. Clearance dropped slightly to 85pc, however the interest from NSW buyers remained strong.

Merino ewes were in short supply, with a single line from Tambo returning $96.50. This line of 480 NSM ewes are 12-16 months and weigh 33kg. They were shorn in August and are bred from Uardy and Wanganella blood. AL & LS Cowper, Aramac, offered 500 store Poll Merino wether lambs which returned $37.50. These lambs are Mar-May ’18 drop and weigh 20kg. Based on Terrick Poll bloodlines, these lambs are travelling to Mumbil, NSW.

Burrengong Pastoral Co, Cunnamulla, offered 221 White Dorper ewes and 127 lambs which returned $162. These ewes are 1-8 years, weigh 60kg and are joined to Dorper and White Dorper rams. The Dorper lambs at foot are 1-16 weeks. The vendor also offered  201 White Dorper ewes and 100 lambs which returned $123.

Darling Downs Ag Pty Ltd, Southbrook, offered 150 store mixed sex White Dorper lambs which returned $125.50. These lambs are Nov/Dec ’17 drop, weigh 35kg, and are making the journey to Mungindi, NSW. RD Pastoral, Roma, offered 505 mixed sex White Dorper lambs which returned $94. Weighing 30kg, these lambs are Apr ’18 drop and are travelling 700km to Gilgandra, NSW. RM & AE Bredhauer, Wyandra, offered 904 mixed sex Dorper suckers which returned $66. These lambs are May/Jun ’18 drop, weigh 22kg and were secured by an NSW buyer from Inverell.
