There were 502 head yarded at Stariha Auctions Laidley cattle sale on Thursday. The market for cows and feeders held firm to dearer, with feeder rates showing the most improvement. Plainer types and younger cattle again suffered the most with the dry conditions.
Zoie Khan, Helidon, sold a young Charolais bull for $1140, cows for $1200 and Angus heifers for $1050. Noel McGrath, Mulgowie, sold a Charbray bull for $1470. Col Duncan, Flagstone Creek, sold Charolais cows for $1100, 12-month-old heifers for $900, yearling steers $865-$885 and 8-month-old weaner steers for $750.
Cribrum Pastoral, Purga, sold Droughtmaster cows for $1270 and a line of milk tooth Charbray steers for $1150. Bevan and Carol Scheiwe, Thornton, sold a line of milk tooth Droughtmaster steers for $1125. John Campion, Middlemount, sold Simbrah cross steers for $1120, lines of mickeys for $680-$740 and lines of heifers for $720-$750.
Graeme Duncan, Ma Ma Creek, sold 15-month-old Shorthorn steers for $1000. Collins Grazing, Anduramba, sold Brahman cross weaner steers for $775 and heifers for $730. Ian Ashton, Glamorganvale, sold Droughtmaster steer calves for $680. Doug Gelhaar, Ingoldsby, sold Brahman heifer calves for $600.
