THE Pearce family of Telpara Hills Brangus stud from the Atherton Tablelands has topped the annual Roma Brangus sale for the third consecutive year, last Friday.
They topped the Roma fixture at $22,000 with Telpara Hills Remington 541M18 (P) which was bought by the partnership of Charles McKinlay, Bloodwood, Yamala and Will Caldwell, Milwillah, Young, NSW.
Telpara Hills Remington 541M18 (P) is a high performing 30-month-old son of MC High Quality 535Y (P) and a grandson of the US $70,000 world record priced female, Oaks Ms Csonka 541T7.
Remington will be shared equally between both parties with Mr McKinlay to join him to Ultrablack females to lift the content while Mr Caldwell will use the bull over Angus cows to breed Ultrablack bulls at Mirage Plains, Cunnamulla.
Mr McKinlay said it is very hard to find a bull with such temperament, length of body and clean sheath.
“Remington has a good birth to growth performance data spread and his carcase numbers are up there for a bull with that amount of content,” added Mr Caldwell.
Co-principal Stephen Pearce said this flush has been consistent and is a proven pedigree with Remington’s $28,000 full brother and $42,000 full sister topping their Beef 2018 sale.
“Remington’s versatility is also what makes him appealing plus he is in the top one percent for 200, 400 and 600 day growth as is his IMF percentage of 6.4 percent,” said Mr Pearce.
The Telpara Hills draft proved popular after their nine bulls averaged $11,167.
Early in the sale Bruce and Leanne Woodard, Bonox Brangus, Taroom sold Bonox 1031 (P) to Rodney and Karen Johannesen, Folkslee Brangus, Brooweena for the $20,000 second highest price.
Mr Johannesen had inspected his (Bonox 1031) mother prior to the sale and said she (Bonox B597 (P) was an outstanding cow.
“Bonox 1031 is the complete overall package and has a terrific underline,” said Mr Johannesen.
“He was also one of the last calves by the very consistent sire in Bonox 330 (P) and a standout in the sale,” Mr Johannesen said.
The Woodard family enjoyed a solid sale result after their five bulls averaged $11,800.
Operating on the top end of the market were regular supporters, the Forrest family, Bellona, Augathella who paid $12,000 for Telpara Hills Secret Weapon 15M11 (P), a quality 21-month-old son of Suhn’s Foundation (P) for $12,000.
The Forrests also bid $17,000 to secure Riverview Yass 728 (P), a beautifully balanced son of Bonox 750 (P) (Bonox 330) with excellent muscling and a big, square back end from the Morgan family, Riverview Brangus, Casino, NSW.
Solid demand throughout the sale saw 93 bulls change hands for a $6817 average and 34 females average $1948 with a $4250 top for Gunnadoo Park Kylie (P) offered by Jeff and Kerri-Ann Parker, Gunnadoo Park stud, Manilla, NSW.
Gunnadoo Park Kylie was bought by Julie Sheehan and Jason Jeynes, Kraken Brangus stud, Rockhampton.
