Stanthorpe district sheep breeders Mark and Angela Davey, North Springdale and Murray and Helen Schroder, Keilah, Inglewood, sold 59 Australian White rams to average $1295, representing 92 per cent at the Stanthorpe showgrounds on Friday.

Australian Whites are a composite breed and have been with bred using four breeds including White Dorper, Van Rooy, Polled Dorset and Texel and were developed by Graham Gilmore, Tayykeel Stud, Oberon, NSW.

This is the second time these rams have been offered for auction and both vendors were delighted the interest shown and sale result.

It was a Keilah-bred ram offered by  Murray and Helen Schroder, that topped the sale at $4000 for a June 2016 drop ram who weighed 110kg, bought by repeat buyer Paul Keevers, McLean Farms, Copps Hill, Pittsworth.

Mr Keevers was impressed with his top priced ram for his overall confirmation, structure and weight-for-age.

In all, McLean Farms finished with 4 rams to average $2500.

They will be joined over Dorper ewes, with the progeny sold between 45 and 48kg, through TopX at the Warwick Prime Lamb sales.
