Visitors to Bulloo Park on September 8 will be treated to an evening of spectacular bull riding at the Quilpie Show and Rodeo.
Drawing crowds from throughout the Quilpie area, the rodeo forms a large part of the show entertainment with all its thrills and spills.
According to a Quilpie Show committee spokesman, the quality of both the bulls and cowboys is why the rodeo is so popular.
“The bulls are very feisty and the country folk sure know how to entertain,” the spokesperson said.
“We expect some pretty competent cowboys who will be more than tested against a strong line up of bulls.
“Spectators will be amazed as these cowboys go head to head with these bulls for their chance at an eight second ride.
“The Wayne Allen Memorial Bull Ride, sponsored by MI Helicopters and APV Contracting, is one of the best in the west.
“The competition features bulls of Professional Bull Riders quality in action, and cowboys competing for $3000 over two rounds in the open ride.
“All Open bull riders receive a sponsors shirt.
”There is also an $800 purse for the novice bull ride competition which is sponsored by Imperial Hotel Motel and Paulsen Bros.
“Nominations are on August 29 and 30, and must be pre-paid.”
During the rodeo inter-mission guests will be treated to one of the biggest and best fireworks displays in the south-west.
