It was an Ausline wipeout at the Ekka on Friday as the small breeds battled for the top prize.

THE Auslines took out the interbreed competition in a whitewash today at the Ekka, with both the interbreed champion bull and female.

It was Mason Farm Zeffaskye who took out the bulls, while Mason Farm Elli was the champion in the females.

Up against the Lowlines and Dexters, the Auslines were judges Marty Rowlands (Ausline and Dexter) and Hilary O’Leary’s (Australian Lowline) clear pick – with the entire interbreed decided and finished in 20 minutes.

Both interbreed champions were Mason Farm cattle, owned by Tracey and Greg Krahenbring, and exhibited on the day by Troy Nuttridge.

Mr Nuttridge owns and runs TLC Fitting Services alongside his wife Tracey, and said the day was obviously a great one.

“It has been a great day for our clients, we exhibited the Grand Champion Dexter female for ourselves and our clients had Grand Champion Ausline bull and female, who both went on to win the interbreed,” he said.

Interbreed female was taken out by Ausline female Mason Farm Elli (AI), owned by Tracey Krahenbring, exhibited by Troy Nuttridge, photographed with judges Marty Rowlands and Hilary O'Leary, and MP Shannon Fentiman.

Despite having one of his own in the mix, he said the win for the Krahenbring family was like one for himself.

“We prep all our animals as if they were our own,” he said.

“My wife and I take great pride in that and it’s one of the things that has seen us hold our business for close on 20 years now.

“In the Dexter ring it was a fitting farewell – we close our herd after today, 20 years of breeding and we’re finished.”

He said the move came as he and Ms Nuttridge focus more on breeding cattle.

“We’re moving to a commercially viable breed now, we’re moving into our Angus stud a bit more and we’re focussing on that a lot more, improving our genetic lines and hopefully getting back into the show ring for Sydney next year for the feature show,” he said.
