A CHARLEVILLE trio who bought a lotto ticket after a few drinks at the pub have won almost half a million dollars.
The syndicate was one of nine division one winning tickets in the August 4 Saturday Gold Lotto taking home $444,985.88.
The trio had only been playing Lotto for a month after a drink after work led them to try their numbers.
“I’m still gobsmacked,” the syndicate leader said.
“I can’t even believe we’ve won.
“It took the store about 30 minutes to convince me I did win it, but I won’t believe it until the money’s there.
“Everyone’s been racing around checking their tickets. I didn’t know anyone in town had won that sort of money.”
The winning trio plan to use their winnings on home deposits and holidays.
Their entry was purchased from the Charleville Newsagency. Owner Jenny Hallam was happy to see the winner united with their prize.
“We haven’t had a division one win for a few years so it’s great to have a one again,” she said.
The six winning numbers in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3865 on August 4 were 25, 38, 24, 35, 12 and 14. The supplementary numbers were 36 and 39.
Across Australia there were nine division one winning entries in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3865 – five from Victoria, two from Queensland, and one each from New South Wales and the Northern Territory.
