Long-time exhibitors, Greg and Sharon Fuller plus daughter, Christie Kennedy, Pine Creek Angus, Cowra, NSW could not contain their excitement when they won the interbreed champion bull title with Pine Creek Newsman for the Angus breed.
At 19 months-of-age and weighing in at 858 kilograms, with an EMA of 127 square centimetres, the bull was described by judge David Bondfield as the proudest bull in the line-up with a great combination of carcase qualities, softness and a good set of testicles.
“We are over the moon, this is really what you dream of doing – it is unbelievable,” Pine Creek co-principal Sharon Fuller said.
Newsman had earlier won the junior bull and grand champion Angus bull awards. His previous success was earlier this year at Beef 2018 when his was placed first in the 12 to 14 month bull class, and he was placed second in to same class at the Sydney Royal Show.
He represents home-bred Pine Creek bloodlines and is by Pine Creek Kodiak J157 (AI) out of Pine Creek 94S Initiative dam.
Newsman will be retained by Pine Creek Angus and will go on to Adelaide and Melbourne royal shows, plus earmarked for the 100-year Angus Feature Show at Sydney Royal next year.
Mrs Fuller said this was the second interbreed championship win for the family.

“We won the Champion of Champions award some 30 years ago when the interbreed was judged as a pair only, before the individual bull, female, championship pair was introduced to the category,” she said.
The Fuller family established Pine Creek Angus more than 40 years ago and join more than 1000 Angus females, plus is one of NSW most successful studs in the show ring.
They hold the reputation of being the only Angus breeder to win the prestigious Hordern Trophy at the Sydney Royal on three occasions. When judging the huge line-up of the 25 breeds represented, Mr Bondfield shortlisted his top nine exhibitors describing their impressive traits. He again shortlisted his final choice asking the Angus, Charolais, Droughtmaster and Simmental bulls to step forward before announcing Pine Creek Newsman as his winner.
