Ag science teacher and cattle show team coordinator, Brooke Cuddihy, is the 2018 Marsh Queensland Rural Ambassador.
Pledging to call on the networks made during this week’s judging schedule, to make Queensland’s shows bigger and better, Brooke showed why she is in demand as an announcer at a variety of horse events at Bell in southern Queensland when she accepted her award at a reception on Saturday evening.
Brooke was representing the Darling Downs sub-chamber and was one of 10 finalists from around Queensland.
Fellow teacher, Nathan Trace, representing the South Burnett sub-chamber and the Nanango Show Society, received the runners-up trophy.
As well as teaching HPE, science and humanities, Nathan helps run the family’s stud Brahman and cropping property.
The positive outlook displayed by North Queensland sub-chamber and Innisfail Show Association entrant, Selena Williams, saw her receive the community spirit award.
A steward in the poultry pavilions at Innisfail, Malanda, Atherton and Tully shows, she is already a much-awarded community member in northern Queensland.
All entrants were welcomed to the final judging arena by Queensland Agricultural Society president, Estelle Drynan, who said the attendees would have the privilege of witnessing the calibre of each.
“They are all passionate about their communities and shows,” she said. “It’s been a big learning curve but they had so much to absorb and take back to their show societies.”
