REGIONAL Queensland will have access to steak from Australia’s most prestigious beef competitions thanks to the Ekka.
Beef from the hugely popular Paddock to Palate is being marketed by JBS Australia and distributed by DR Johnston under the limited edition Royal 100 brand to meat retailers across the state.
As in previous years, Royal 100 product will also be on sale in the McDonald family’s Super Butcher stores in Brisbane.
Denis Conroy from JBS said the winning steaks would also be on sale at the Ekka’s Royal Queensland Steakhouse alongside winning beef and lamb from the Royal Queensland Food and Wine Show.
“We wanted to share some of this wonderful steak with the people from the regions where it was produced,” Mr Conroy said.
“It’s a great opportunity for everyone to taste and compare the beef that competes in these major competitions.
“DR Johnson has made the Royal 100 brand available to retailers throughout Queensland.”
JBS’s pop-up restaurant in the Ekka convention centre will enable diners to try the nation’s finest steak, lamb, wines and cheeses all at the one location.
The Royal Queensland Steakhouse menu includes Paddock to Palate 100 day grain fed rib fillets and 100 day grain fed beef cheek.
Royal Queensland Food and Wine Show award winners include gold medal winning Wagyu rib fillets from Kiwami Wagyu, Wagyu top sirloins from Tajima Wagyu, Swift Premium grass fed eye fillets, Riverina Angus grain fed sirloins, and Tender Valley Black Angus grain fed rumps.
The Paddock to Palate competition cattle were fed at Mort and Co at Dalby before being processed at JBS’s Dinmore facility.
Winners in the Paddock to Palate competition will be announced on Friday morning.
