A cracking draft of 118 Central Queensland-bred bulls from 15 vendors will go under the hammer at the 11th annual Central Brangus Classic Sale being held at CQLX Gracemere, on Wednesday, September 5.
Sale coordinator Duncan Geddes said the sale will provide prospective buyers with an opportunity to purchase from a vast selection of high quality Brangus genetics with which to diversify the bloodlines within their herds.
“The registered and herd bulls catalogued are ready to go to work and will suit a variety of market types,” Mr Geddes said.
“This is one of the most even lines of bulls that we’ve offered,” he said.
He said the vendor group has stuck with the sale through the lean times and the good; loyalty which has been rewarded in kind by an ever increasing array of repeat sale bidders.
“Our sale supporters are predominantly situated in CQ, though we also have prospective buyers regularly attending from Nebo and Eidsvold, down to the South Burnett region and west to Springsure, Alpha and Jericho.”
Mr Geddes said the vendors achieved an “outstanding result” last year, but that selling conditions will be more challenging this year.
“I think everybody realises what the cattle market is like now in comparison to the highs of last year, and that combined with the dryer conditions means it’ll be a pleasant surprise if we match last years mark.
“However, these conditions have created a great opportunity for prospective buyers to purchase good quality replacement bulls at what will likely be cheaper than usual rates.”
In 2017 the sale vendors grossed $763,000, with a top price of $20,000 reached twice for the 101 bulls sold.
“We had more than 90 bid cards handed out on the day and a strong selection of bulls were offered right through to the last lot.”
A bull walk will be held on Tuesday, September 4 from 4pm, providing an opportunity to inspect the sale bulls, while socialising and enjoying light refreshments.
Mr Geddes said delivery of bulls is never an issue as trucks are constantly going back and forth from CQLX.
The sale catalogue is now available available at Landmark Rockhampton and is online at rlx.com.au.
