Peter and Toni Rauchle, Springside Simmentals, Springside, overarching goal is to breed bulls that will bring the best possible results to the cattle breeder.
This core focus is readily apparent in the draft off 44 lots they’ve selected for their annual Springside Simmentals 2018 Bull Sale at the Roma Saleyards on Friday, August 24 from 11am.
Peter said the 2018 sale line-up is as good or better than those they’ve presented at the sale previously, and will feature the first bulls for sale from Valley Creek James.
In 2017 the Rauchle’s purchased a heifer from Buzzard Hollow Ranch, Texas, USA, and this year Woonallee Knight Rider was added to the genetic pool.
“Both animals are outstanding representatives of the Simmental breed,” he said.
“As always the bulls are selected on the sires/dams traits of temperament, longevity, structural soundness and fertility.
“Environmental conditions have mirrored the previous years, so the challenge has been to keep our bulls growing with even, upward consistency.
“This should result in better assimilation of the animal into their new environment and see them achieve a high rate of pregnancies even in adverse conditions.”
The bulls can be inspected on-farm until August 21 after which they’ll be transported to the Roma Saleyards.
Peter said they’re also looking forward to exhibiting two of their bulls, Springside Manager and Springside Nash, at the Royal Queensland Show this month.
