THE prime Emerald irrigation and dryland cropping operation Knockavanon has sold to a local syndicate headed by cotton grower and contract picker Andrew Keeley.
The 1284 hectare (3172 acre) property is located 10km south of Emerald and adjoins Fairbairn Dam.
The property was offered by the Philippines-based Pacific Exchange Holdings and sold by Colliers International agents Rawdon Briggs and Ben Forrest in conjunction with Chris Holgar and Geoff Warriner from CBRE. The sale price is undisclosed.
Quality soils underpin the 814ha irrigation and 217ha dryland areas. Crops grown recently on the property included chickpeas, sorghum and mungbeans. The buyer is understood to be planning to also grow cotton.
Improvements include a two-bedroom homestead, a two-bedroom residence, a cottage, and three dongas. There is also a workshop, an eight-bay machinery shed, a second machinery shed, grain shed and a weighbridge.
The transaction represents a part-sale of Evergreen Farms. Two other properties from the aggregation remain on the market: Fairbairn and Emerald Grapes.
