With a quality yarding evident throughout all categories Emerald Agents today yarded just under 2500 head at the weekly sale on July 19. Strong competition was experienced throughout slaughter and feeder categories, while heifer categories saw little change.
Bullocks over 550kg made to 270c/kg to average 232 cents, while steers 500-550kg reached 277c to average 263 cents, steers 400-500kg made to 289c to average 268 cents, while steers 350-400kg topped at 283c to average 274 cents, 280-350kg steers made to 306c to average 286 cents, while steers in the weaner weight ranges made to 316c to average 285 cents.
Heifers over 400kg made to 269c to average 259 cents, with heifers 350-400kg made to 242c to average 214 cents, heifers 280-350kg made to 247c to average 232 cents, while heifers in the weaner weight ranges made to 238c to average 229 cents. Heavy cows over 520kg made to 235c to average 227 cents, while cows 450-520kg made to 236c to average 208 cents.
Charlie and Margaret Prince, Janibee, Capella sold Droughtmaster steers to 277c to weigh 540kg or $1496, the Flohr family, Wotonga, Moranbah consigned a line of Droughtmaster cross steers making to 286c to weigh 411kg or $1177. Rhonda Ryan, Banyula, Emerald sold South Devon steers to 283c to weigh 443kg and return $1254, the Sibson family, Cotherstone, Dysart sold Brahman cross steers making to 30c to weigh 263kg or $789.
The Bliss family, Eldebaar, Dingo offered Droughtmaster cross steers to 311c to weigh 243kg or $756, the Daniels family, Stonybrook, Fernless offered Santa cross cows to 233c to weigh 748kg and $1745. John and Cheryl Randell, Crinum, Tieri consigned Brahman cows to 239c to weigh 633kg to return $1514.
