Not everyone will have gone back to school with stories of pushing a mob of cattle along the stock routes between Tambo and Augathella, but it's something young Levi Pole from Blackall was able to share.
The pre-schooler was part of the crew looking after 1040 head of cows, calves and weaners belonging to Kevin Bredhuaer at Wyandra.
Barcaldine's Stan Lees was in charge of the mob, which had been out on the road for seven weeks at the start of July.
They hit the long paddock at Charleville, going from there down the Ward River route and onto the Old Augathella Road.
"We'll be heading towards Mitchell now, where the good feeed is," Stan said.
Having been a drover for 45 years, finding the best tucker is something he's expert at and one he thought he'd retired from, taking up caretaking work instead.
However, the property he's based at west of Barcaldine, Tara, is fully destocked at the moment.
"I thought it was time to get paid so I took this job," he explained. "I expect we'll keep going until it rains."
His crew was boosted during the school holidays just past with a visit from his nephew, Neil McCoy, and his family.
"They got to spend their days riding horses and motorbikes - why wouldn't they love it," Stan said. "It's been great to have the sounds of them laughing and having fun round the camp all day."
