The Hannaford Rose and Geranium Club has gathered on Tuesday to celebrate more than 50 years since the garden club first began in 1964.
Members, friends and family came together at Lyndell Neal’s beautiful garden on their family property called Caerleon near Tara in south west Queensland.
The Hannaford Rose and Geranium Club was started in November of that year by a group of local ladies from the former Tara shire in south west Queensland.
“They wanted to share their knowledge and passion about gardening in such a harsh and isolated part of Queensland,” club secretary Gale McKelvie said.
In all, it’s a local garden club with members meeting on the second Tuesday from March to November in various gardens around the district.
“The garden club is a wonderful place to make new friendships with like minded people who all share a love and passion for gardening in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere,” club president Lyndell Neal said.
